Hey Nancy: Here we go! Think this will be a FUN project for MOST of us! LOL! I look forward to working with you on this project.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a Google/Blogger or OpenID or other login. I do have a name but NO URL.
Thanks for all your efforts!
We discovered a glitch in the blog software from Ann's comment above. It wouldn't let her post a comment from "WhidbeyIslandAnn", but when the name was changed to "Whidbey Island Ann" it went through just fine.
ReplyDeleteLooks pretty simple couple of clicks and I was in. Dave Flomerfelt
ReplyDeleteNot as easy as everyone seems to think!
ReplyDeleteAre you supposed to 'log in' first? How important is it to 'update' your profile? Do you have to do something special to 'follow' the blog?
Also, my google id is 'Madness7'. It's not clear to me how to get my real name to show up.
Note that some of these questions are specious but I always take the point of view that there ought to be simple, one, two three steps to follow, especially for those who are computer phobic.
It looks as though Jerry has been our Google ID guinea pig. I agree that the instructions should be very straightforward. If you can improve on the homemade instructions in the "Post a Comment" section, please send me your corrections. I can't see what it's like to comment with a Google ID because as soon as I log in, I have all the Web Manager access.
ReplyDeleteAs for getting your name to show up, you can always add it at the end of a comment as Dave did.
Nancy - I am still trying to figure this out - didn't find it easy to do, so will be surprised if this goes through. I used Google.
ReplyDeleteIf this all works (I should say when, not if), it will be quite an adventure - and I believe very helpful.
Thanks to you for suggesting it and guiding us, and thanks to Jerry for all his input.

Someone just submitted an anonymous comment without including their name. The comment included this question:
ReplyDeleteIf I use "Anonymous" and sign my name, does that mean that you, Nancy, have to look me up first?
My answer: If you include your name, I'll verify your membership, just as if you use the Name/URL option (I wish I could knock off the "/URL" part of that because it's confusing to people, but I have no control over it). If you'd like to try submitting another comment with either the Name/URL or Anonymous options, I'll post it...if you include your name so I know who you are.
How easy is it....
ReplyDeleteMy experience has been that it's confusing at first but it didn't take me too long to get the basics figured out. I think if we provide members with a set of (a few simple) instructions they will be able to use it very effectively. I'm really quite excited about this new way to share information between members.
A few members have mentioned that sometimes when they click the "Post Comment" button, they get this message:
ReplyDelete"Your request could not be processed. Please try again."
So far, all our comments have gone through on the second or third try, so just click the button again if you get this message.
